Jharkhand’s Metro Line Project: Connectivity to 3 major cities – Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad
The Government of Jharkhand is working with full dedication to bring metro rail connectivity to three major cities – Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad. With the rapid growth of urbanization and increasing population, the state government aims to provide citizens with a modern, safe, and eco-friendly public transport system that will ease daily travel and reduce heavy traffic congestion on roads.
Fresh Proposal for Metro Rail
Earlier, the state government had sent a proposal to the central government, but it was not found suitable for current requirements. Now, the Urban Development and Housing Department has started preparing a new Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) by issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP). This new plan will be completed and submitted within the next two months for approval.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, during the Eastern Zonal Council meeting on July 10, requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a metro rail project in Ranchi and other key cities. Responding to this, the central government has asked for a fresh plan that reflects the present-day urban transport needs.
